Year 3 enjoyed a fantastic trip to Kents Cavern on Tuesday 21st February.
We handled some artefacts that are replicas of those found within the caves. The children learnt more about how Stone Age people lived and how their lives compared to ours today.
We then, journeyed into our cave after our appointed leader had reported that it was safe! The children (and adults!) enjoyed learning about the caves and how they were discovered. Some of the stalactites and stalagmites are incredible and we found out how long they would take to form – 17,000 years for one to connect and form one long stalactite/stalagmite!
After lunch, we explored the woodland trail and learnt about animals that lived during the Stone Age period! The children were, as ever, beautifully behaved, with our guide Elliot commenting on the children’s focus and respect at the end of the day!
