Welcome to Owls - our Reception Class

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum supports children's development from birth to 5 years old. During these critical early years children learn through play opportunities, being active, thinking critically and exploring the world around them. These experiences will build their foundation for future life-long learning.

Once children are settled into school routines, we begin our guided reading journey. We teach phonics through the Little Wandle Scheme and children will read books three times a week in small groups at school.

To support your child, please read with them regularly at home, we recommend at least five times a week. In Reception, your child is entitled to a free fruit snack at break time and a free school meal. We encourage as many children as possible to make the most of this offer everyday.
